Water utility enables remote SCADA for pump stations

Hardened edge devices bridged Modbus assets to a central SCADA room and reduced after-hours callouts.

Challenge

Pump stations had mixed controllers, inconsistent telemetry and limited network resilience. Operators often had to call local technicians for basic status checks after alarms.

Modibus approach

Modibus gateways collected pump, level and power data locally, buffered events during connectivity drops and exposed a clean data stream to SCADA.

Outcome

The utility moved from reactive phone-based troubleshooting to structured alarm review. The operations team also started comparing station energy profiles to detect inefficient pump behavior.

The project worked because it respected the old equipment. We connected what was already in place instead of forcing a rip-and-replace program.
