Before you start

  • 24 VDC power is available and verified.
  • The assigned IP plan and panel drawing are on hand.
  • Laptop access to the local cabinet network is approved.

Expected outcome

  • The MB-213 is online with project network settings applied.
  • A baseline log and commissioning record are captured for support.
Description

This article covers 4 sections: Before you begin, Commissioning sequence, Functional checks, Escalation package.

The MB-213 quick start flow is designed to get a field technician from unboxing to a verified online session without needing the full manual. Use this article when you need a clean commissioning sequence for first power-up.

Before you begin

  • Confirm the unit label matches the project BOM and firmware baseline.
  • Prepare a 24 VDC supply, Ethernet patch cable and the assigned network addressing sheet.
  • Record the serial number and installation location for support tracking.

Commissioning sequence

  1. Mount the module in a dry, vibration-controlled cabinet with clearance for service access.
  2. Wire power and earth according to the panel drawing, then verify polarity before energizing.
  3. Connect the engineering laptop and set a temporary address in the same subnet as the factory default IP.
  4. Open the local web UI and change the admin password before applying project network values.
  5. Load plant network settings including static IP, gateway, DNS and any VLAN notes required by the site.
  6. Validate link and protocol LEDs to confirm that power, Ethernet and fieldbus states match the expected startup pattern.
ℹ️Note
If the module is being staged for a customer network, capture a screenshot of the final addressing page before closing the cabinet.

Functional checks

  • Ping the device from the engineering laptop and the local SCADA node if available.
  • Confirm the configured protocol endpoint is reachable from the intended upstream system.
  • Export the startup log after the first successful connection so future support work has a known-good baseline.

Escalation package

If commissioning fails, send support the serial number, firmware revision, IP settings, LED state description and a copy of the startup log. That package usually removes the need for a second discovery call.
